How rewards work

What a referred business has to do before a free month exists, how that month reaches your subscription, and what a refund does to it. The referral programme is not switched on for accounts at the moment.

Who
Anyone on the account who can see billing
Plan
Active paid subscription on a plan the programme covers
Role
Billing access to view reward status

Before you start

  • The referral programme switched on for your account
  • At least one business signed up through your link

A reward is one free month on your own subscription. It is not a discount code, a credit balance or a payout — it moves the date of your next charge. The product states the rule in one line: “You earn one free month for every referred business that becomes a paying customer.” The referral programme covers the link and how attribution reaches a reward in the first place.

Time-limited offers can add bonus months on top of the standard month. That part of the programme is not switched on either, and no offer has ever run.

What has to happen before a reward exists

A reward row is created the moment a referred business signs up, and it starts at In progress. It is a record, not a promise. Every hour a background check re-reads the facts below from your account records and decides again whether the reward stands.

ConditionHow it is established
The account is attributed to your linkWritten when the organisation is created, from the referral cookie or the signed link parameter.
Someone in the referred business verified their emailAt least one active member of that organisation has a verified email address.
The referred business connected WhatsAppAt least one WhatsApp connection on that account is Connected and carries a working number.
The referred business paid for a planA settled plan invoice exists on that account. A trial on its own never qualifies, and invoices for anything other than the plan do not count.
The paid plan is one the programme coversChecked only once money has moved — the plan held before payment is the trial default and proves nothing.
The payment survived the verification period14 days from that first plan payment, unrefunded. The window measures how long the money has lived, not how old the account is.
No review flag is open on the referralAn open flag holds the reward at In progress until a person resolves it. See Referral programme rules.
You are under the yearly limitUp to 12 rewards approved or applied in any rolling 365 days, counted per referring organisation.
Every condition a standard reward must satisfy

The check accumulates every reason a reward is not ready, so the Referrals page can show progress rather than a single blocker. And it works in both directions: a reward that reached Qualified goes back to In progress if a condition stops holding.

The statuses you will see

StatusWhat it means
In progressThe referral exists and at least one condition is still outstanding. Nothing is lost; it is re-checked every hour.
QualifiedEvery condition holds. Approval follows in the same pass.
ApprovedThe month is yours to receive and is waiting for a safe moment to be written onto your subscription.
AppliedThe month is on your subscription. Your paid period and next charge date have moved.
Not eligibleThe referral is closed without a reward — for example the referred business was refunded, cancelled after paying, paid on a plan outside the programme, or a review confirmed abuse. This state is final.
ReversedAn applied month was reversed as bookkeeping after a review. The paid period you already received is not shortened by that action.
ExpiredThe reward was approved but never became applicable within 90 days.
Reward history statuses, as labelled in the product

How the free month reaches your subscription

  1. The reward becomes Approved as soon as every condition holds. Approval stamps a 90-day deadline for applying it.
  2. On a later hourly pass, the system checks that your subscription can be safely extended right now.
  3. In one transaction, your current period end and your next billing date both move forward by one calendar month. A period ending on the 31st clamps to the last day of a shorter month.
  4. The open billing period on your account is widened to match, so usage keeps counting against the right window.
  5. The reward becomes Applied, a notification email goes out, and the next time you open the Referrals page a card tells you the month was added.

Your plan itself is unaffected. The price stays the same, the allowances stay the same, and your next charge simply happens a month later. No invoice is issued for the free month, so it does not appear in Invoices and receipts as a document.

When an approved reward waits

Writing a new period end onto a subscription that is mid-charge would either be overwritten or shift your cycle twice, so the system refuses to do it while any of these is true. None of them cancels the reward — it stays Approved and is retried on the next pass.

  • Your next charge is due within the next 24 hours.
  • A charge on your account is pending, being taken, or waiting for a retry.
  • Your subscription is not currently active, or you have never been charged — the month extends a paid period, so it will not extend a trial.
  • Your organisation is suspended or has asked to be deleted.
  • The stored period dates on your subscription disagree with each other, which means another process is mid-flight.

Refunds, disputes and reversals

The programme keys on refunds recorded against the referred business’s plan invoice. What that does to your reward depends entirely on whether the month had already been applied.

SituationWhat happens
The referred business is refunded before the month is appliedThe reward moves to Not eligible and stays there. Repaying later does not revive it.
The referred business is refunded after the month is appliedYour period is not shortened. The referral is flagged for a person to review, and the month stays on your subscription unless that review decides otherwise.
A review concludes the reward should not standAn OMAI operator marks it Reversed, with a required note. This is bookkeeping — the action itself does not take back time you already received.
A payment dispute or chargeback that never becomes a recorded refundThe reward is not moved automatically. There is no separate chargeback state in the product; only the refund path above and a human review can change a reward.
The referred business cancels after paying, before the reward qualifiesThe reward moves to Not eligible. A customer who paid and immediately left is not an acquisition the programme rewards.
What each situation does to the reward

Refunds on your own subscription are a different subject entirely — see Refunds.

The limits that apply to rewards

LimitValue
Standard rewards per referred businessOne, ever. A second reward for the same business cannot be created.
Rewards per referring organisation12 approved or applied in any rolling 365 days. It is a moving window, not a calendar year.
Verification period after the first payment14 days
Life of an approved reward90 days, then Expired
Months per rewardOne month. Several rewards can be applied in the same hour, each extending the period again.
Reward limits, as enforced
Does a free month reduce what I pay?

It does not change the price. Your paid period gets longer and the next charge moves with it, so you are charged the same amount, later.

What if I change plans before the month is applied?

The month extends whatever paid subscription you hold when it is applied. See Changing plan.

How quickly is a month applied after it qualifies?

The check runs about once an hour, and application waits for a clear moment in your billing cycle — in particular, not within 24 hours of your next charge.

A reward has said In progress for weeks. Why?

At least one condition in the table above is still outstanding — most often the referred business has not paid yet, or the 14-day verification period is still running. Support can tell you which condition is missing.
