Install the website chat
One line of code puts the assistant on your website. What the line is, where to paste it on WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Webflow or through Tag Manager, and what visitors, your inbox and your plan see afterwards.
- Who
- Owners and admins
- Plan
- All plans (uses your answer allowance)
- Role
- Owner or Admin
Before you start
- Owner or admin access to your dashboard (the website chat is available on every plan)
- Access to your site’s code or its custom-code setting
The website chat is the same assistant that answers on WhatsApp, on your own site: the same business knowledge, the same handoff to a person, the same inbox. Visitors see a chat bubble in the corner of every page that carries the snippet. You do not need a WhatsApp number to start: the website chat alone puts the assistant to work, and a number can be connected later.
Set it up
- Open Website chat in the dashboard and choose Set up website chat.
- Under Allowed sites, add every site the chat may load on, exactly as visitors see it in the address bar:
www.example.comandexample.comare two different sites, so add both if both are in use, andshop.example.comis a third. A bare name means https; writehttp://only for a site that still serves http. The chat refuses to load anywhere else. - Copy the install snippet. It is one line, and its address never changes: you paste it once and keep it.
Where to paste it
The snippet goes before the closing </body> tag of every page where the chat should appear. On most platforms there is one place that applies to all pages:
- WordPress — Appearance → Theme file editor →
footer.php, or the “footer scripts” box of a header-and-footer plugin. - Wix — Settings → Custom code → Add custom code → paste, place in Body – end, apply to all pages.
- Shopify — Online store → Themes → Edit code →
theme.liquid, before</body>. - Webflow — Project settings → Custom code → Footer code.
- Google Tag Manager — a Custom HTML tag on all pages; the snippet works as it is.
What visitors see
A bubble in the corner opens a panel with your welcome message and suggested questions. Answers arrive within a few seconds and are plain text. When a visitor asks for a person, the assistant steps back, the conversation waits in your inbox marked Website chat, and — if you chose it — the visitor is offered to continue on WhatsApp. A details form (name, phone, email, with a consent line) appears when you configured it to.
The panel has a privacy section: the visitor can download everything the chat holds about them, or delete it — that erases their messages and details from your inbox too. It also shows a short reference the visitor can quote if they write to you by email about their data.
Your inbox and your plan
- Web conversations appear in the inbox with a Website chat badge and a Website visitor name; use the Website filter to see only them. You reply the same way; there is no 24-hour window and no template on the web.
- Every answer on the website draws from the same monthly allowance as WhatsApp. The daily answer limit in the settings caps what the website can use per day, and a share of your allowance is always kept for WhatsApp. The billing page shows how many answers went to the website this period.
- When the daily limit is reached — or when your answer allowance is nearly used up — visitors are told the assistant is taking a break and, if you have the details form on, offered it; never a plan-limit message.
Pausing and signing everyone out
Pause website chat removes the bubble from every page at once; existing conversations stay in your inbox. Sign everyone out ends every open chat session on your site without changing the snippet. Both are on the Website chat page and ask for confirmation.
